Deep Impact BIOGRAPHY
Deep Impact was discovered at a school talent show in February 1998 by a local producer from Atlanta. He noticed their energy and vibe that they brought to the stage. Anxious to get them to the studio he was amazed by the versatile talent that these three artist from Chicago offered. From this led to a slew of performances including opening up for Chicago's Twista and becoming
special guest in several other local shows within a months time. Jawaad Kirkwood( Joey Duncan Sr.), Ralph Clay (Ralph Lorenzo) and Deandre Clay (Manteno) form the group Deep Impact. With all three possessing strong lyrical convictions on the rap scale we cannot discuss this group without talking about what else they bring to the table which makes them so very unique.
Ralph Lorenzo is not only one of the most street credible mc's to grace the mic in our time, he is also a well acclaimed singer that can also hold his own on the R&B side. He discovered his gift for singing in elementary school and has won just about every high school talent show that existed in his south side of Chicago High School CVS (Chicago Vocational School). Ralph
is also a officer in the military which also expands his multi diverse background. Joey Duncan, a well gifted mc, typically considered a lyricist with street credibility also is a nationally acclaimed poet with a best-selling poetry book in every major bookstore including Barnes and noble and Walden Books across the county. The title of the book is 2 shades Darker
which he released under Author House publishing in August 2003 and has went on to win several major awards throughout the country including poet of the year. www.barnesandnoble.com. Manteno, is the boy wonder of the group, barely 20 years old he is the kid prodigy. With a very distinguished voice and a playful attitude, Manteno is the lyrical/producer for the group.
Being able to play the piano backwards with tunes of Mozart and Beethoven, this young Mc captures everyone's attention as soon as his energy pulsates through the speakers. Deep Impact has always had a strong following and has been regarded as the artist to give the people real music again. Also currently on BET Jazz the peace Journey documentary with the original music
to the 27 minute documentary.
