Despite setbacks, Ahmed remained committed to his vision of empowering underprivileged individuals.

CanUDIGit.Earth Applauds The Work at YMA and the Leadership of Ahmed Sheikh Ali, Kenya as Our First Example of CanUDIGit.Earth "EarthSTARS" Video Storytelling.

Ahmed Sheikh Alvi, The Honorary Secretary For Young Muslim Association Ahmed Sheikh Alvi has been a dedicated member of the Young Muslim Association for nearly two decades now, starting as a volunteer in 2003. His passion for helping others, particularly those who are underprivileged, has led him to take on various roles within the organization, including serving as the conveyor of the relief committee and providing advisory support on education matters.

Inspired by his father's guidance on the importance of providing both short-term and long-term solutions, Ahmed became deeply committed to empowering refugees and underprivileged individuals to grow their own food. He encountered many challenges and learned valuable lessons along the way, which helped him develop a solution-oriented mindset that he continues to apply today.

In 2013, the Young Muslim Children’s Home was gifted a greenhouse by the Kenya Red Cross Association, which helped revive farming within the center. However, devastating floods the following year destroyed the farm and affected the cows negatively. Despite this setback, Ahmed remained committed to his vision of empowering underprivileged individuals through farming.

In 2019, Ahmed was appointed as the Secretary General for the Young Muslim Association, where he established the YMA Going Green Initiative. This initiative focuses on practical involvement in environmental conservation through partnerships with other organizations and youth volunteers. The initiative includes activities such as conservation education outreach programs, school field trips to the Nairobi National Park, and tree planting and clean-up efforts in conservation areas.

Ahmed's commitment to environmental conservation is rooted in the teachings of the Quran, which emphasizes the importance of being responsible stewards of the earth. Through his leadership at the Young Muslim Association, Ahmed is not only championing environmental conservation but also encouraging other Muslim organizations to follow suit. His story is an inspiration to all of us to take action towards building a better world for everyone. Our guiding principle is to actively engage youth from an early age, and practically do it!
